One of the key originators of “Worldbeat” music, Obo Addy is a member of the first generation of Africans to bring their traditional music to international audiences. An original and respected composer whose music reaches far beyond the boundaries of his land of birth, Obo Addy has a twenty-year presence on the international performing arts scene and has become known for his ability to celebrate past traditions while expanding to embrace new ideas and foreign influences through his music. Tonight he brings us his Portland jazz band, which fuses African rhythms with Western instruments—rich vocals complement the driving rhythms that are sure to lift your spirits!
